Warren Trust Fellowship Recipient Completes First Year of Training


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – COSEHC announces that the Warren Trust Fellowship Recipient Completes First Year of Training. The Consortium for Southeastern Hypertension Control (COSEHC) announces that the first recipient of the Warren Trust Fellowship, Xiaoyan Zhou, MD, PhD has successfully completed her first year of training. Dr. Zhou’s research thesis is entitled, “Effects of Specific Aldosterone Receptor Antagonism on Glomerular Dynamics and Histopathology in the L-Name/SHR Model.” The studies are performed under the mentorship of Professor Edward Frohlich, MD, Director of the Hypertension and Cardiovascular Biology Laboratory at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA.

Dr. Zhou will present the outcomes of this work at the upcoming international conference of the Council for High Blood Pressure Research of the American Heart Association in September 2003 in Washington, DC.

The Warren Trust Fellowship was established in 2001 to support career training and primary research for individuals in cardiovascular disease in the Southeastern United States. The fellowship focuses on research broadly related to cardiovascular disease; and function, stroke, or related clinical, basic science, bioengineering and/or public health problem.
